Death Penalty Arguments Essay -- Informative Essays

Many victims of murdered people say that the death penalty should be re-introduced in to our society. They say that the murderer doesn't deserve to live while others argue the point. I will examine the arguments on both sides. If we turn to the bible for some advice whether or not to re-introduce the death penalty we can find help in the Old Testament. The covenant recorded in Genesis 9 says, "whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed." This is the same as what the Old Testament teaches us stating, "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." Does this mean that if someone murders our loved ones that we should have the right to kill them? If we look to Genesis again we see the bible telling us, "so God looked upon the Earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the Earth. And God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the Earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them."
